General
Teeth Cleanings
As recommended by the American Dental Association, most patients should schedule a dental cleaning twice a year, or as recommended by Dr. Grimm. Our hygienists will remove plaque and calculus (tartar) from the teeth, leaving behind a clean and polished smile. We use ultrasonic devices for more efficient and comfortable debridement and cleaning of the gums and teeth. We will also take digital x-rays as necessary in order to detect any developing cavities that cannot be seen during a visual exam. The DEXIS CariVu™ system allows us to earlier detect decay, and we use adult fluoride varnish for better protection and cavity prevention.
Periodontal Care
Periodontitis is disease of the surrounding tooth structures. Symptoms include red, swollen and bleeding gums. Studies have shown periodontal disease can even be related to serious medical issues such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, pregnancy risks, and diabetes, and it can shorten one’s life expectancy. Treatment for periodontitis depends on its severity. More advanced periodontal disease will require an anesthetic and deep scaling and root-planing, followed up with by frequent dental cleanings.
This is why it is so important to schedule routine dental cleanings, so periodontal disease can be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible. Most periodontal therapy can be provided here can be provided here by Dr. Grimm and his staff of highly trained and skilled team members. In most severe cases, we may refer a patient to a periodontist.
Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder where a person frequently stops breathing for anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes while sleeping. The most common form of this sleep disorder is obstructive sleep apnea, caused by a collapse of the airway during sleep that creates difficulty breathing. Snoring, morning headaches, fatigue, memory difficulties, and irritability are just some of the symptoms of sleep apnea.
We work closely with a Sleep Physician Specialist and we offer home sleep tests to ensure the proper diagnosis. We will also work with you to find your medical insurance coverage for assistance with this type of treatment.
Dr. Grimm is trained in dental sleep medicine and can provide oral appliance therapy. This treatment uses a mouthguard that is custom-fitted to your mouth and works to bring the jaw forward, opening the airways while you sleep so you can breathe easier. If you suspect you have sleep apnea, contact us for an appointment and we can help.

Veneers
Veneers are thin porcelain/ceramic or composite shells that are bonded to the front of existing teeth. They are an excellent choice for disguising gaps between teeth or discoloration due to stained enamel or silver fillings. Our veneers are stain-resistant, custom-created to blend in seamlessly with your smile, and designed to last for years to come.
Zoom Teeth Whitening
Despite how well you take care of your smile, your teeth are still vulnerable to staining due to coffee, tea, and smoking. Zoom teeth whitening is a procedure in which we apply a whitening gel to the teeth and activate it with a high-intensity light. In just one hour, you will notice your smile is significantly whiter by several shades. If you are considering teeth whitening, Dr. Grimm will discuss with you if you are a good candidate for Zoom.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are a great tooth-replacement option and are an alternative to bridgework and dentures. The implant is a titanium post that is surgically inserted into the gums. After a few months, it will permanently anchor to the jaw bone, providing a secure foundation for a crown restoration. After the restoration, the implant will look and feel just like a natural tooth. No preparation of surrounding teeth is necessary.
It is important to replace missing teeth, because a gap in the smile can cause your other teeth to shift, as well as increased risk of gum disease and difficulty chewing and speaking properly. Our office has extensive experience in treatment planning and designing implant solutions that are custom-tailored for each individual patient. Implants do require several visits and can take months to complete.
Crowns & Bridges
When a patient has a tooth that is severely damaged or decayed and can no longer be saved with a filling, a crown is necessary. Crowns cover the patient’s remaining tooth, restoring its strength and appearance. We offer several options for crown material, including non-metal crowns. Dr. Grimm will discuss with you the best option for your needs.
Bridges are a tooth-replacement option for when tooth loss occurs due to gum disease, decay, or injury. A bridge can be used to replace one tooth or several teeth and is permanently cemented to the adjacent teeth. Dr. Grimm will create a bridge that looks and functions as natural teeth and will prevent complications caused by missing teeth.
Technology
DEXIS CariVu™
DEXIS CariVu™ is a small device designed to identify caries, or areas of decay/cavities. It uses a near-infrared light to make tooth enamel appear translucent, while porous areas of decay will absorb light and appear dark. The DEXIS CariVu™ allows our team to determine if a carious lesion or crack requires monitoring or immediate care. When combined with x-rays and intra-oral photos, this device allows us to create a comprehensive picture of a patient’s dental health.
DentalVibe
DentalVibe is a handheld wand that uses gentle vibration to reduce pain due to injections. The vibrations provide counter-stimulation to the pain sensation produced by injecting local anesthesia. It also helps the skin absorb and spread local anesthetic more efficiently.
Benefits of the DentalVibe include:
- No sleep-inducing drugs
- It’s completely safe
- Less anesthetic is needed
- Quick anesthetic delivery
- The patient doesn’t feel pain
Telescopic Loupes
You may notice that during many procedures, Dr. Grimm will wear a pair of funny-looking glasses. These powerful glasses, known as “telescopic loupes,” use magnifiers to help Dr. Grimm see fine details in a patient’s mouth that he wouldn’t be able to see with the naked eye. This allows for increased precision and better detection of developing problems.
